Describe Yourself:

I am an artist. Most recently, I have been working on bringing older Nordic folk imagery into new narratives.
I've been studying - and been inspired by - the work of folk artists in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland from about 800 through 1900.
I just saw the Chicago Art Institute show: Becoming Edvard Munch and once again, almost no curatorial references were made to the influence of Norwegian figurative folk art in his work. !!

I finished a couple of pieces to celebrate Finland including Ahto, King of All the Waters from a stanza of the Finnish Kalevala.
I completed my first diptych - Looking Back; Four Views of Norway (1936)

Music: Baroque, Hardanger Fiddle, Choral, Early Music, Artists: Rose Ensemble, Chanticleer, Folger Consort, Trio Medieval (Norwegian trio)

Histories and Mysteries. Just finished Our Tempestuous Day - (an OK history of the Regency period in England), Also The Zimmerman Telegram (about the missive that finally persuaded Wilson to enter WWI). In between, I listened to an Ellis Peters, (bathrobe mystery) The Virgin in the Ice.

Emma, Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Love and Death (and nearly all of Woody Allen) Sweet Land

Masterpiece (which, for some unknown reason has dropped the Theatre from its title), Almost all police procedurals - as long as they don't get too involved with agonized protagonists - just the facts ma'm - for me.
