I am an artist. Most recently, I have been working on bringing older Nordic folk imagery into new narratives. I've been studying - and been inspired by - the work of folk artists in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland from about 800 through 1900. I just saw the Chicago Art Institute show: Becoming Edvard Munch and once again, almost no curatorial references were made to the influence of Norwegian figurative folk art in his work. !!
I finished a couple of pieces to celebrate Finland including Ahto, King of All the Waters from a stanza of the Finnish Kalevala. I completed my first diptych - Looking Back; Four Views of Norway (1936)
